Study Task 4 - Animated Shorts or Stings

Ignas Meilunas - Mr Night has a Day Off

This is a simple animation but with the music the character really works
I can imagine this character being used for shorter stings to catch people's imagination
The way Mr Night absent mindedly kicks the bike out for a amusement is a nice, subtle touch
It's a successful animation and will have cost nothing to make - changing clothes on the girl and using two dogs is so simple but effective.

Joseba Elorza uses stock photos, old images and old film to create shorts for National Geographic.
He uses a wide variety of images to encapsulate the vast nature of people, animals and places that National Geographic covers.
It's like a Victorian mechanical network of machinery that pulls you through different landscapes and places. The motion of the rising characters is deliberate to give that sense of the mechanical, stop/start pull of the system.

Fernando Livschitz
Livschitz plays with scale and proportions in this short. He makes it seem incredibly real and creates a believable world where mini planes fly around.
It's a clever use of editing - the crowds seem amused rather than just curious at seeing planes landing.
In other scenes, the ridiculous seems normal with girls pedalling invisible air.
The point of view is directed so it feels as if you are new to this kind of world.
